
A member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was killed in an encounter by the Noida unit of Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and the Delhi police special cell in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur.
Naveen Kumar, a sharpshooter of the Lawrence gang had opened fire on police and was shot in retaliation, reported IANS.
RK Mishra, Additional Superintendent of Police, Noida STF said they recived input about a criminal after which a joint team of the Delhi Police Special Cell and Noida STF was formed to take action.
” The input indicated that a Lawrence Gang member from Delhi was heading to Hapur to carry out a criminal act…,” Mishra told IANS.
Naveen, a resident of Loni, Ghaziabad was sent to the hospital for treatment after the encounter where he was declared dead, the UP STF said in a statement.
He was wanted in a murder and a case registered under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) at Thana Farsh Bazar, Delhi. He was an active member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and a sharpshooter, as per the STF.
Naveen was booked in 20 cases, including murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, robbery and MCOCA, registered in Delhi and UP. In two of the cases he was sentenced by the court, the STF added.
