India’s sole victory was the 336-run triumph in the second Test at Edgbaston after England’s five-wicket win in the series-opening encounter at Headingley. England regained the lead after clinching the subsequent fixture at Lord’s by 22 runs. The fourth Test in Manchester ended in a hard-fought draw after it looked nearly certain that India would lose by an innings.

3. Akash Deep for Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah’s workload has been a recurring discussion throughout the series. Akash Deep was called in to replace Bumrah in the second Test at Edgbaston and the right-arm medium pacer did exceedingly well, claiming a 10-wicket haul (10/187) to seal a comprehensive win for his team. Deep was a tad bit unlucky with the ball in the next game, after which he was ruled out due to a groin injury.

With Bumrah set to miss the Oval Test, Deep seems likely to get another shot. He has the ability to bowl in consistent channels and trouble the batters with the extra zip he extracts off the deck. Deep would be the perfect foil for an already-burdened Mohammed Siraj.
