
Three people were killed and four injured after a fight between two families in the Ganpat Patil Nagar slum area in Mumbai’s Dahisar West.
The fight started after Arman Sheikh came to Ram Naval Gupta’s coconut shop at Ganpat Patil Nagar Street in a drunken state at around 4:30 pm on Sunday, police said.
The feud over a petty issue escalated between Arman and Ram Naval and both called their family members, according to The Indian Express.
The police said that Ram Naval’s sons, Amar Gupta, Arvind Gupta, and Amit Gupta, reached the spot, while Arman’s family members, Hamid Nasiruddin Sheikh and Hasan Hamid Sheikh, also arrived at the spot.
A heated argument took place between the two families following which the members started attacking each other with weapons.
During the fight, Ram Gupta, Arvind Gupta, 23, and Hamid Sheikh, 49, sustained serious injuries.
The injured were taken to Kandivali’s Shatabdi Hospital, where doctors declared them dead. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem at Shatabdi Hospital, Kandivali West. The police are continuing with the process of registering a cross-murder case.
The Shiekh and Gupta families used to live in the same locality and had a long-standing dispute.
Meanwhile, Amar Gupta, Amit Gupta, Arman Sheikh and Hasan Sheikh are undergoing treatment for injuries.
Police said that during the fight the two sides used sharp objects, including knives and koyatas.
The Police have seized the weapons used in the crime and a forensic team collected samples from the crime scene. The two families have a history of clashes and have fought in the past.
