England captain Jos Buttler announced his decision to relinquish England’s white-ball captaincy, following a string of shambolic outings for the team under his leadership. Champions Trophy’s last league stage game of Group B between England and South Africa will be the last official outing of Buttler as English skipper, before the seasoned campaigner calls it quits.

As a result, there have been questions looming over the players who can replace Jos Buttler as captain of the England cricket team in both T20Is and One-Day Internationals. There are a few strong contenders who can reshape the future of England cricket in tandem with their coach Brendon McCullum.
