
Five members of a family, including a five-year-old girl, allegedly died by suicide at their rented house in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad by consuming a poisonous liquid. The reason behind their suicide is unknown. All of them are originally from Dholka, a senior police officer said.
The deceased include 34-year-old Vipul Kanji Waghela, his 26-year-old wife Sonal and their two daughters aged 11 and five and a son aged eight years.
The incident took place in Bagodara village and the police were informed about it around 2 am, Ahmedabad (rural) Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Jat said. He added that prima facie, it appeared that they died by suicide by consuming poison. Further probe was underway to ascertain the reason behind the extreme step.
“A man, his wife and their three children died by consuming poison at their rented accommodation in Bagodara. The man used to drive an auto-rickshaw for a living, and the exact reason behind the extreme step taken by the family is not immediately clear,” the official said.
