Coming to the match, Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and opted to bat first. None of the Pakistan batters could score a fifty with captain Rizwan and Salman Agha being the highest scorers with 46 and 45 runs knocks respectively. Pakistan finished with 242-10 in 49.3 overs. ORourke achieved his best ODI figures with 4-43 in 9.3 overs.
Chasing 243, the Kiwis received an early setback as Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah got rid of the opener Will Young in the second over itself. However, Devon Conway and Kane Williamson steered New Zealand back to stability with a 71-run partnership for the second wicket before Williamson fell to Salman Agha.
Soon after, Naseem Shah claimed the wicket of Conway as well, leaving New Zealand at 108-3. However, Daryl Mitchell (57) and Tom Latham (56) ensured the visitors did not lose any more quick wickets and formed a match-winning 87-run partnership.
