The tech giant Google on Wednesday inaugurated its sprawling new campus, ‘Ananta,’ in Bengaluru, marking one of the company’s largest offices worldwide. The tech giant described the development as a testament to India’s pivotal role in the global technology landscape.
In a blog post, Google highlighted how India has become a “strategic nerve centre” for technology, citing the country’s thriving startup ecosystem, robust digital public infrastructure, and the growing influence of Indian creators.
“Today, we are excited to share another major milestone in our ongoing commitment to India, with the inauguration of Ananta — one of Google’s largest offices globally,” Google stated.
‘Ananta’ campus designed for collaboration and innovation
The name ‘Ananta,’ derived from Sanskrit, translates to ‘infinite’ or ‘limitless,’ symbolising the vast potential Google envisions in advancing technology to transform lives. Located in Bengaluru, a city known as one of the world’s fastest-growing tech hubs, the campus reflects Google’s evolving approach to workspace design.
“Ananta is one of our most ambitious ground-up developments. A collaboration between Google India and a local development and design team, the Ananta campus embodies Google’s latest thinking in workplace design,” the company said.
The campus features a city grid-inspired layout, with interconnected pathways for seamless navigation. Each floor is divided into “neighbourhoods,” encouraging teamwork while offering quieter corners for focused work. According to Google, the design aims to foster connections that spark creativity and innovation.
For over two decades, Google has been working to drive transformation in India, including AI-powered flood forecasting, early detection of tuberculosis, and empowering millions to access the formal economy through Google Pay. The company emphasised its commitment to building solutions “from India, for the world.”
“Ananta will further accelerate this mission, enabling us to deliver world-class products, foster deeper partnership with our customers, and continue to focus on solving the most complex challenges facing users, businesses and startups in India and around the world,” the tech giant concluded.
