Amid Meerut Murder Shocker, UP Man Marries Off Wife To Her Lover In Gorakhpur

Days after the chilling murder of a man by his wife and her lover, who chopped up his body and dumped it in a cement-lined drum in the Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh, and another couple hired a contract killer in Auraiya, a similar incident surfaced from Gorakhpur district where a man took an unconventional step to safeguard his life. Rather than confronting his wife over her affair, he arranged her marriage to her lover and even served as a witness to the ceremony.

Bablu, a resident of Katar Mishra Village in Sant Kabir Nagar, married Radhika in 2017, and the couple has two children. Working as a labourer in another state, Bablu discovered the extramarital affairs of his wife with a man identified as Vikash from his village for nearly a year and a half. Without informing her, he returned home and secretly observed her actions to confirm the affair.

Once certain, Bablu chose not to fight or reprimand her. Instead, he approached the village elders and proposed that Radhika marry Vikas. Following Hindu rituals, he arranged their wedding at a Shiva temple and ensured legal formalities were completed by acting as a witness in court, according to a report by NDTV.

Deciding to take full custody of their children, Bablu pledged to raise them on his own. Videos from the wedding showed Radhika and Vikas exchanging garlands, with Vikas applying sindoor to her forehead, while Bablu stood by, even posing for pictures with the newlyweds.

When he was asked why he had decided to take such a step, Bablu told news agency PTI, “I decided to arrange their marriage to avoid potential harm to myself. In recent days, we have seen that husbands have been killed by their wives. After seeing what happened in Meerut, I decided to get my wife married to her lover so that we can both live peacefully.”

Upon a question over the legality of the marriage, as he married his wife to a lover without giving her a divorce, Bablu responded that the ceremony was done in the presence of villagers with no objections from family members.

Similarly, in Auriaya, a 22-year-old woman identified as Pragati Yadav decided to kill her husband, Dilip, with the help of her lover just two weeks after her parents compelled her to marry him. The couple employed a contract killer to kill Dilip, who was later found lying with bullet wounds in a field on March 19. The next day, the 25-year-old died in a hospital.

In a similar incident, a woman and her lover allegedly tried to kill her husband by deliberately running him over with a car. The incident took place near the Jhansi Road Bus Stand, and the entire sequence was caught on a surveillance camera.

According to the victim, Anil Pal, the attack occurred on March 20, when his wife pretended to be unwell and left the house. Suspicious of her intentions, Anil decided to follow her, only to discover her inside a car with her purported lover, Mangal Singh.

When Anil approached the vehicle in an attempt to confront them, his wife reportedly signalled to Mangal Singh, who accelerated the car and hit Anil. The duo didn’t stop the car there and dragged Anil several metres, leaving him with severe injuries.
