At their Annual General Meeting (AGM), the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) decided to rename the Divecha Pavilion Level 3 as the Rohit Sharma Stand. Additionally, stands will be dedicated to former Indian skipper Ajit Wadekar and former MCA President Sharad Pawar for their contributions to Indian cricket.
The Grand Stand Level 3 and the Level 4 stands will be renamed the Sharad Pawar Stand and the Ajit Wadekar Stand, respectively. Furthermore, former MCA President Amol Kale will be honoured, as the match-day office at the MCA Pavilion will be named after him.
“A key resolution passed during the AGM was the approval of the naming of stands at Wankhede Stadium, a proposal initially put forward by Mr Milind Narvekar and seconded by Mr Jitendra Awhad,” MCA’s press release claimed as per Cricbuzz.
“The MCA remains committed to preserving the legacy of stalwarts who have made invaluable contributions to the sport while continuing its mission of cricketing excellence,” the MCA added in its statement.
MCA offers deep respect for the pillars of Mumbai Cricket
Ajinkya Naik, the MCA President, spoke about the renaming of the stands and the pavilion. He described it as MCA’s way of showing respect to the pillars of Mumbai cricket in building a strong future. Naik said these stands and lounges would echo the legacy of those who worked hard to turn the world-class stadium into what it is today.

“Today’s decisions reflect our deep respect for the pillars of Mumbai cricket and our determination to build an even stronger future. These stands and this lounge shall forever echo the legacy of those who built Mumbai’s cricketing spirit – brick by brick, run by run,” Naik said.
In addition to the renaming of the stands, a key discussion was held regarding increasing the corpus for affiliated clubs to INR 75 crores, with a possible increase to INR 100 crores in the coming years. The focus is on strengthening grassroots-level infrastructure and ensuring the long-term growth of the sport in the region.
