Rain Lashes Parts Of Delhi-NCR; IMD Forecasts More Showers, Thunderstorm For Tomorrow

Several parts of Delhi-NCR were drenched on Friday as heavy rains lashed the national capital this afternoon, with he India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing an orange alert amid forecasts of light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, or lightning. 

Meanwhile, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for the city, with a forecast of thunderstorms along with lightning for the next two days.

Waterlogging was also witnessed in various parts of the city due to heavy rain.  

Earlier today, light rainfall was recorded in several parts of the city. Rainfall was observed between 2.30 pm and 5.30 pm in Pusa 21 mm, Ridge 1.0 mm, Ayanagar 2.2 mm, and Janakpuri 0.5 mm. Mayur Vihar witnessed 0.5 mm rainfall, Pragati Maidan 0.2 mm, Najafgarh 8.0 mm, and Palam 0.6 mm.

In its weather bulletin, the IMD said South-Easterly winds prevailed with wind speed up to 19 kmph gusting to 34 kmph over Delhi on Friday. 

Delhi on Friday recorded a maximum temperature of 36.2 degrees Celsius, which was 1.2 degrees below normal. The minimum temperature stood at 28.4 degrees Celsius, 0.5 degrees above normal.

Humidity levels fluctuated between 75 per cent in the morning and 76 per cent in the evening. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the city’s air quality was recorded in the “satisfactory” category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 78 at 4:00 PM.
