Army Doctor Helps Woman Deliver Baby After She Goes Into Labour At Jhansi Railway Station

An Indian Army doctor on Saturday helped a woman give birth at the railway station in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, after she suddenly went into labour.

Major Rohit of Jhansi Military Hospital was present at the railway station when the woman went into unexpected labour on the platform. He then conducted the childbirth at the station without any delay. The Army Medical Corps officer ensured the safe delivery of the child despite minimal resources and even provided vital medical assistance in a challenging environemnt, Indian Army officials told news agency ANI.

Both the mother and newborn are said to be in stable condition due to the Army officer’s timely intervention.

Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin of the DG Armed Forces Medical Services, the seniormost medical officer of the defence forces, lauded the outstanding professionalism and swift response demonstrated by Major Rohit. 

She praised him for his timely intervention and actions, which reflected the Armed Forces Medical Services’ spirit of service beyond the call of duty, ANI reported.

Another Woman Gives Birth On Jhansi Railway Station Platform

In another similar incident in Jhansi, a woman travelling by train from Bhusaval to Mathura gave birth to a baby girl at Jhansi railway station on Sunday, news agency PTI reported citing officials.

Monika Bhosale was travelling in the general coach of the Sachkhand Express when she began experiencing labour pains, Assistant Public Relations Officer of Jhansi Railway Division Pradeep Sunele said.

Health workers from the Railway Hospital and a lady constable from the Railway Protection Force (RPF), rushed to the platform to promptly attend her after they were informed about the woman in labour.

By then the train had reached platform number 5. It was halted and the woman was safely alighted. She successfully delivered a healthy baby girl on the railway station platform itself, Sunele told PTI.
