Affair With Gang Leader’s Wife Ends In Fatal Crash, Triggers Manhunt In Nagpur

Nagpur police are investigating a dramatic turn of events involving the Ippa gang, after the death of the gang leader’s wife during a secret rendezvous with one of the members triggered a furious manhunt.

The woman died following a road accident while she was allegedly meeting Arshad Topi, a fellow gang member, sparking accusations of betrayal and murder within the group, reported NDTV.

According to police officials, Arshad Topi had been involved in a clandestine relationship with the wife of the Ippa gang’s leader. On Thursday, the two were reportedly travelling together on a two-wheeler when they were hit by a JCB machine. While Topi suffered only minor injuries, the woman was critically wounded in the accident.

A patrol vehicle from the Koradi Thermal Plant unit happened to pass by and transported the injured woman to a nearby private hospital, which allegedly declined to provide treatment. Another hospital in Kamptee also refused admission. Eventually, Topi paid an ambulance driver to take her to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Nagpur, where she was admitted. Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries early Friday morning.

CCTV footage from GMCH reportedly confirms Topi’s presence at the hospital with the injured woman. But as news of her death spread, outrage erupted within the Ippa gang. Believing that Topi was not only disloyal but may have murdered their leader’s wife, 40 members of the gang are now said to be actively searching for him across Nagpur and its Kamptee suburb.

“Sensing danger to his life, Topi rushed to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP)’s office in Pardi, for protection, on Friday. Considering the seriousness of the situation, the DCP sent him to Koradi police station, where his statement was recorded,” the report said citing a senior police official  on condition of anonymity.

Investigators so far believe the woman’s death was the result of an accident and state there is no conclusive evidence suggesting foul play. However, Topi has since gone into hiding as the threat to his life continues. Police are monitoring the situation closely, anticipating further retaliation from the gang.
