‘Terrorists Behind Pahalgam Attack Identified, Won’t Live Long’: Jammu-Kashmir LG Promises ‘Goo

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday stated that those responsible for the Pahalgam terror attack have been identified and will soon face consequences. The statement was made during his lecture titled ‘Jammu and Kashmir: Towards Peace’ at the Gandhi Smriti, presided over by former Union Minister and Vice Chairman of Gandhi Smriti, Vijay Goel.

Referring to the April 22 attack in Pahalgam where 26 people — primarily tourists — were killed by terrorists, Sinha said a strong retaliatory action, Operation Sindoor, was launched by India on May 7. This operation targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

“Following the Pahalgam attack, Pakistan received a strong response through Operation Sindoor. Those who carried out the attack have been identified, and I can confidently say they do not have long to live. Good news will come, but it’s not appropriate to disclose a specific date,” the Lieutenant Governor said, as quoted by news agency PTI.

He further stated, “Over the past five years, even the highest leaders of various terrorist organisations are no longer alive, and they will meet the same fate.”

LG Manoj Sinha Highlights Post-Article 370 Developments in J&K

Highlighting the transformation in Jammu and Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, Sinha noted rapid strides in infrastructure, entrepreneurship, and public services.

“Highways worth Rs 1.5 lakh crore have been built, over 5,000 hotels have opened, and 1,013 new startups have been launched, most of which are led by local women,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor emphasised that these achievements reflect the inclusive progress underway in the Valley.

‘Stone Pelting is Now History’: LG Manoj Sinha

Sinha claimed that law and order in the region has significantly improved. “Stone-pelting has become a thing of the past,” he stated, asserting that central government schemes are reaching the people of Kashmir without discrimination.

In the context of recent elections, he remarked, “Not a single bullet was fired during this period,” despite opposition concerns over the conduct of Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in the Union Territory.

“Although some may not welcome the changed atmosphere of the Valley, with the inspiration of Prime Minister Modi, the story of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas (Together with all, development for all) is being written across the state without any discrimination,” he added, as per PTI.
