Kanwariyas Brutally Thrash CRPF Jawan At UP’s Mirzapur Station After Argument Over Tickets: On

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan was thrashed by a group of Kanwariyas at Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur railway station. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

The footage shows saffron-clad Kanwariyas beating up the CRPF personnel, who was reportedly going to board the Brahmaputra Mail at the railway station. They can be seen pinning him down and kicking him as others on the station witness the assault.

One of the passengers can then be seen pulling a Kanwariya as the others continue to thrash the CRPF jawan. At one point, even a boy comes in between and tries to pick up the personnel from the ground. When the gets up, he goes towards the Kanwariyas to hit them back for attacking him. However, they surround him and start punching and slapping him.

One of them then drags him and throws him on the ground again, before all of them start kicking him again. The viral video was also shared by political analyst Tehseen Poonawalla.

“Heartbreaking & outrageous! A brave CRPF jawan, serving our nation, was brutally assaulted allegedly by Kanwariyas in Mirzapur, UP, as captured in a viral video. This isn’t about religion at all, it’s about law & order crumbling! Our soldiers sacrifice everything for us, yet faced such violence!” he wrote on X, urging the government to take action against those involved in the assault. 

According to a report by India Today, the Kanwariyas started assaulting the jawan over an argument on buying train tickets. 

Upon getting information about the incident, the Railway Protection Force reached the spot filed a case against the Kanwariyas. Seven Kanwariyas were later arrestedRPF in-charge inspector Chaman Singh Tomar said, the report noted.

The Kanwar Yatra began on July 11 and will end on July 23. It is an annual pilgrimage in the month of Shravan (Sawan), when devotees walk barefoot, carrying the holy water from Ganga in Haridwar in pitchers (Kanwars) to Lord Shiva temples.
