Former India captain Sourav Ganguly revealed that he was confident India would seal the victory in the fifth Test against England, especially after a dominant Day four performance at The Oval.

Rain forced an early end on the penultimate day’s play, leaving the match on a knife’s edge as England needed just 35 runs to clinch the series 3–1, while India required four wickets to level it 2–2. On the final morning, Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj delivered exceptional spells under overcast conditions, helping India wrap up the match in style and secure a memorable series-levelling win.

“When the game of Day 4 finished, I had confidence that India was going to win. The pitch was really good, and Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna have done outstanding bowling,” Ganguly told reporters as quoted by NDTV Sports.

The old ball was moving heavily, and in the end, India clinched the match by six wickets, dismantling England’s tailenders with precision. Siraj claimed a brilliant five-wicket haul, while Krishna backed him up with four wickets, sealing a dramatic win and drawing the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series 2–2.

Former Indian cricketer Madan Lal highlighted the significance of the victory, emphasising the gravity of India’s performance under pressure and the resilience shown by the bowling attack.

“It is a historic victory. They took four wickets for such few runs. It was standout bowling by Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna. We will always remember this Test match because there have been very few such matches seen in India’s history,” said Lal.

The five-match series between India and England was a fiercely contested battle, and it was only fitting that it ended in a 2–2 draw. Throughout the series, players from both sides gave everything, pushing through injuries, enduring body blows, and displaying immense commitment to the longest format of the game. Every delivery was charged with intent, every shot played with power. Emotions ran high, and tempers flared both on and off the field, adding plenty of spice to an already exciting contest.
