AUS vs SA 2025: Cameron Green hammers second-fastest century by an Australian in ODIs | CricTracker

Cameron Green entered the record books by notching up the second-fastest ODI century by an Australian during the third ODI against South Africa in Mackay on August 24. Green’s maiden ODI ton came off just 47 deliveries.

The batting all-rounder ended up unbeaten on 118 off 55 deliveries at the end of the innings. His blistering knock comprised six fours and eight sixes. Green’s boundary-laden innings was one of the primary reasons behind Australia ending up amassing 431/2 after 50 overs.

Fastest 100s for Australia in ODIs (as of August 2025):  

Australia‘s 431/2 was their second-largest ODI score, just behind their 434/4 which came against the same opposition back in 2006. Green was one amongst three centurions from the Mitchell Marsh-led outfit alongside Travis Head (142 off 103) and Marsh (100 off 106).

Green’s unbeaten 164-run stand off 82 balls for the third wicket with Alex Carey (50* off 37) was the second 150-plus stand by Australia in the same ODI, the first time they achieved such a feat. Earlier, openers Head and Marsh added 250 runs off 205 balls. Overall, this was the tenth time a team had two 150-plus stands in an ODI innings.

Left-arm spinners Keshav Maharaj (1/57 in 10 overs) and Senuran Muthusamy (1/75 in nine overs) were the only ones with a wicket for their team. The new-ball pair of Wiaan Mulder and Kwena Maphaka gave away 166 in their 13 overs in aggregate.

The Proteas have already taken a 0-2 lead in the three-match series, winning the first two matches by 98 runs and 84 runs. Maharaj (5/33) and Lungi Ngidi (5/42) secured the Player of the Match accolades in the first and second ODI, respectively.
