Following the incident, Boeing’s recommended maintenance checks for uncommanded RAT deployment were carried out, and no discrepancy was found. The aircraft was then released for service and brought back to Delhi the next day, on October 5, 2025.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has now asked Boeing to provide a comprehensive report outlining preventive measures to avoid such incidents in the future.

DGCA Seeks Details From Boeing

Boeing has also been requested to share details of similar uncommanded RAT deployments that have occurred globally on Boeing 787 aircraft, as well as any service difficulty reports received after changes to the Power Conversion Module (PCM).

Air India has been advised to review its maintenance procedures, especially the “D” check work package, to ensure that necessary actions related to PCM module changes are being followed.

The airline has also been asked to reinspect RAT stowage on all aircraft where the PCM module was recently replaced.

Authorities confirmed that further investigation is underway to identify the cause of the incident and to ensure the continued safety and reliability of Boeing 787 operations.
