Akash Anand, nephew of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati, who was expelled from the party earlier this year, on Sunday publicly appealed to her for forgiveness and sought re-entry into the party.
In a detailed thread in Hindi, Akash reiterated his loyalty towards Mayawati, stating, “I consider BSP’s National President, former four-time Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and multiple-time Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MP, respected sister Kumari Mayawati ji, as my only political mentor and ideal from the bottom of my heart. Today, I take a pledge that for the benefit of the Bahujan Samaj Party, I will not allow any of my relationships, especially my in-laws, to become an obstacle.”

He further expressed regret over a previous tweet that allegedly led to his expulsion, stating, “I apologise for the tweet made a few days ago, due to which respected sister ji removed me from the party. Henceforth, I will ensure that I do not consult any relatives or advisors for political decisions. I will follow only the directions given by respected Behen ji (Mayawati), respect senior and old members of the party, and learn from their experiences.”
He concluded his message with another appeal to Mayawati, saying, “I request respected Behen ji (Mayawati) to forgive all my mistakes and allow me to work in the party again. I will always be grateful to her for this. I will not make any mistake in future that would hurt the self-respect and dignity of the party and respected sister ji.”
Akash Anand’s Expulsion From BSP After Mayawati’s ‘No Political Heir’ Announcement
In March, Mayawati announced Akash Anand’s expulsion from the party, citing the move as being in the “interest of the party” following a high-level review of BSP’s leadership structure. According to a statement posted on X, Mayawati said, “In the All-India meeting of BSP yesterday, Mr. Akash Anand was relieved of all responsibilities, including National Coordinator, due to his continued association with the influence of his already expelled father-in-law, Mr. Ashok Siddharth, rather than the interest of the party.”
She further added, “He was expected to show maturity and regret for his actions. However, contrary to that, Mr. Akash Anand’s long and elaborate response reflects not regret or political maturity, but rather, it is mostly selfish, arrogant, and non-missionary, influenced by his father-in-law. I have always advised and punished such people who follow such self-centred behaviour.”
Mayawati emphasised that Akash’s conduct showed a lack of political maturity and his reaction to the disciplinary action revealed he had not learned from the situation. “Therefore, in the interest of the self-respect and self-pride movement of the revered Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and in line with the discipline tradition of the esteemed Shri Kanshiram Ji, Mr. Akash Anand, like his father-in-law, is expelled from the party in the interest of the party and the movement,” she stated.
The expulsion came shortly after Mayawati declared that no successor would be appointed to lead the party during her lifetime. In the same meeting, she had appointed her brother Anand Kumar and Ramji Gautam as national coordinators to manage party affairs across the country.
