Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Sunday shared a cryptic post amid reports of a rift with the party. The row erupted over his remarks praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Pinarayi Vijayan-led LDF government in Kerala.
Amid the rumoured rift, Tharoor warned the party that he had “options” if it did not require his services. However, he has refuted the rumours of switching parties saying he did not believe so even if there was a difference in opinions.
On Sunday, Tharoor posted a quote by English poet Thomas Gray: “Where ignorance is bliss, ‘Tis folly to be wise.”
Earlier the Thiruvananthapuram MP asked Rahul Gadhi to specify his role in the party. In a discussion recently held between the leaders, Tharoor expressed deep dissatisfaction over being sidelined within the party, reported The Times of India.

On Sunday, Tharoor was asked by reporters about a possible rift between him and the party to which he replied: “Go watch the match.”
“It’s an important match today,” said the Congress MP referring to the India vs Pakistan ICC Champions Trophy match being played in Dubai.
The row began initially after his article in an English daily praising the Pinarayi Vijayan-led LDF government’s handling of the Kerala economy.
While the Left party welcomed Tharoor’s remark, fellow Congress leaders criticised him for the article.
Later, Tharoor voiced praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi after US President Donald Trump called Modi a “great leader”.
Referring to Trump’s remark, Tharoor said: “To hear a man like Donald Trump, whose defence secretary yesterday (Thursday) called him the greatest negotiator in the world, announcing that the Indian prime minister was a better negotiator than he was, that sounds like something Mr Modi can put in the bank, that sounds very good.”
