
In a major relief for Amanatullah Khan, a Delhi court on Tuesday granted anticipatory bail to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA in a case for allegedly attacking a police team.
Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court granted anticipatory bail to MLA Amanatullah Khan on Tuesday. Earlier, the court granted protection to Okhla MLA from any coercive action till February 24. The court had also directed Delhi police to bring all the documents aside from any CCTV footage related to the incident before the court on February 24.
The Rouse Avenue Court, while granting bail, ordered Amanatullah to submit a personal bond of Rs 25,000 and directed him to cooperate with the Delhi Police investigation. The court ordered him to appear whenever summoned by the investigating officer and cannot leave the country without the court’s permission.
The development comes as Khan had moved a Delhi court seeking anticipatory bail in the case where he is accused of leading an attack on a police team in the Jamia Nagar on February 10.
An FIR was registered against AAP’s Okhla MLA by the Delhi Police for allegedly leading an attack on a police team in Jamia Nagar on Monday. The police said the Amanatulla Khan-led mob helped a proclaimed offender Shabaz Khan, an accused in an attempt-to-murder case, escape from custody.
