Key price cuts
Among the notable reductions:
- Butter (100 gm pack): New MRP ₹58, down from ₹62
- Ghee (1 litre): Price cut by ₹40 to ₹610
- Processed Cheese Block (1 kg): Reduced by ₹30 to ₹545
- Frozen Paneer (200 gm): New price ₹95, down from ₹99
The price drop spans multiple categories, including UHT milk, paneer, chocolates, bakery products, peanut spreads, malt-based drinks, condensed milk, and frozen potato snacks.
Industry impact
GCMMF, owned by 3.6 million farmers, said the revision is expected to stimulate demand, especially for products like ice cream, butter, and cheese, where India’s per capita consumption remains relatively low compared to global averages.
“Amul believes the reduction in prices will spur consumption of a wide range of dairy products, particularly ice cream, cheese and butter, creating a large growth opportunity,” the federation said in a statement.
Communication to trade partners
It also said that Amul has already informed distributors, Amul parlours, and retailers nationwide about the revised rates to ensure smooth implementation from the effective date.
GCMMF added that the reduction would not only boost consumer demand but also help accelerate the federation’s overall turnover growth in the coming year.
