When the AAP MLAs reached the Assembly on February 27, they were stopped at the gates by the police. On the objection of the Leader of the Opposition, Atishi, and the MLAs, the policemen deployed said that they had the Speaker’s orders to stop them.
After this, Atishi and other AAP MLAs sat on a dharna at the gate of the Assembly building on Thursday. The dharna of AAP leaders continued till the end of the House proceedings on Thursday.
Atishi had said on Thursday that this decision of the Speaker of the Delhi Assembly is the first instance in the 75-year history of the country when MLAs had been stopped from entering the premises. This is an injustice to the AAP MLAs, she said.
The BJP responded saying earlier the saffron party’s MLAs had been suspended for the entire session.
