Axis Bank Limited announced its consolidated unaudited financial results for the quarter ended September 30, 2025, reporting a decline in profit compared to the same period last year.
The bank posted a net profit of Rs 5,527.65 crore for the second quarter of FY26, which is about 25.3 per cent lower than Rs 7,401.26 crore reported in the corresponding quarter of FY25.
The fall in profit was mainly due to higher provisions and contingencies made during the quarter.
The bank’s total income for the quarter stood at Rs 39,769.85 crore, up slightly by 1.4 per cent from Rs 39,203.77 crore in the same period last year.
Interest earned during the quarter rose to Rs 32,309.77 crore from Rs 31,601.05 crore a year ago, reflecting a 2.2 per cent increase.
However, other income declined marginally by 1.9 per cent to Rs 7,460.08 crore compared to Rs 7,602.72 crore in Q2 FY25.
Total expenditure, excluding provisions, increased by 3.2 per cent year-on-year to Rs 28,631.36 crore.
The bank’s operating profit stood at Rs 11,138.49 crore, slightly lower than Rs 11,451.87 crore recorded in the same quarter last year, showing a small decline of 2.7 per cent.
Provisions and contingencies, however, surged sharply to Rs 3,642.55 crore in Q2 FY26 from Rs 2,274.58 crore a year ago — a rise of about 60 per cent.
As a result, profit before tax came in at Rs 7,495.94 crore, compared to Rs 9,177.29 crore in the previous year’s quarter, marking an 18.3 per cent drop.
Earnings per share also declined, with basic EPS falling to Rs 17.62 from Rs 23.94 and diluted EPS decreasing to Rs 17.72 from Rs 23.78 in the same period last year.
