BCB President Faruque Ahmed to fight board elections depsite corruption allegations | CricTracker

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has been in absolute turmoil in the last few years due to a lot of corruption and unethical scandals that have taken place this season. It is board president and former Bangladesh cricketer Faruque Ahmed who is alleged by the public to be at the helm of affairs.

Faruque Ahmed himself was a replacement for Nazmul Hasan, who had to flee from the country due to the political turmoil that was caused by the Student Movement being a part of the Awami League and was forced to resign from the post. Despite facing all the problems and allegations Faruque has still decided that he will still be taking part in the election saying that there are people who are trying to demean him and wants to fight the elections saying that quitting his post will not solve anything for the board and claimed that he will try to eliminate corruption all together.

“I think there is a section who had done corruption in the Board and are still trying to demean me. What is the easiest job for them (as I understand) is that if there are four columns written against me based on lies, they think that I am such a man that I will resign. So there is a game that they are playing intentionally, and now, I am thinking I will try to fight in the election because the problem will not be solved if I quit,” Faruque was quoted on Khaled Mohiuddin’s show Thikana.

Will try to eliminate corruption from cricket till my last day: Faruque Ahmed

“I think you will have to leave it for another episode (future) as you will need time to understand the complexities of the election, All I can say is that if I stay in this position, I will try to eliminate corruption from cricket till my last day,” the former Bangladesh cricketer added.

Speaking of Faruque’s experience in the cricketing world, he has played seven ODIs for the Bangla Tigers. Though his international career was short-lived he still contributed towards the board as the Chief Selector with his two terms being from 2003 to 2007 and 2013 to 2016. He could not complete his tenure in the second term, since he resigned due to the disagreement with the expansion of the three-member selection panel.
