Bharat Forge Limited completes Rs 746.46 crore acquisition of AAM India to boost auto and EV components

In a major move to expand its automotive manufacturing and electric vehicle (EV) component capabilities, Bharat Forge Limited (BFL) has successfully completed the acquisition of AAM India Manufacturing Private Limited for an equity value of Rs 746.46 crore. The acquisition, initially announced on October 17, 2024, was finalised following regulatory approval from the Competition Commission of India (CCI) on April 22, 2025.

As part of the deal, AAM India brings with it a cash reserve of Rs 189.48 crore, which Bharat Forge intends to deploy towards future growth opportunities and technology upgrades. The final equity value of the transaction remains subject to net working capital adjustments as of June 30, 2025.

The acquisition adds to Bharat Forge’s portfolio a well-established automotive component supplier with a strong presence in both traditional powertrain systems and new mobility solutions, including components for EV platforms. AAM India has long served as a key supplier to major Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in India and global markets.

“We are acquiring an entity which has a formidable name in the automotive products space, supplying to all major OEMs across traditional and new mobility technology,” Bharat Forge said in a statement. “This acquisition will enable us to complement our component offerings with integrated product solutions to OEMs in India and internationally.”

Strategic Growth in EV and New Mobility Segments

The acquisition aligns with Bharat Forge’s strategy to diversify its product offerings, strengthen its market position, and accelerate its push into EV manufacturing and new energy vehicle (NEV) components. By leveraging AAM India’s existing capabilities and relationships, Bharat Forge aims to enhance its ability to deliver next-generation mobility solutions to a global clientele.

The move is expected to support Bharat Forge’s expansion in critical EV component areas such as electric powertrain systems, lightweight chassis parts, and precision-engineered structures, further reinforcing its reputation as a future-ready automotive technology provider.

Positioning for Global OEM Growth

As global automotive OEMs increasingly prioritise partners that offer innovation and scale, Bharat Forge’s acquisition strengthens its ability to deliver comprehensive component solutions across both legacy and electric vehicle platforms. The addition of AAM India enhances BFL’s capabilities in serving key automotive segments including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and new mobility technologies.

This strategic acquisition is set to play a key role in Bharat Forge’s evolution into a full-spectrum solutions provider in the automotive components industry, both in India and globally.
