The Delhi Police Special Cell has been placed on alert and SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) commandos have already been deployed at the airport.
Rana, a Canadian national of Pakistani origin, is being brought to India on a special flight on Thursday after his final attempt to evade extradition failed as the US Supreme Court justices rejected his application.
Delhi Court Receives Trial Records Of 26/11 Attack
Ahead of his arrival in India, a Delhi court has received the trial records of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks from the US, news agency PTI reported citing a court source. The trial court records were previously sent to Mumbai due to the presence of multiple cases related to the 26/11 attacks in both cities.
The records were recently submitted to the court of District Judge Vimal Kumar Yadav, following his January 28 directive instructing the staff of a Mumbai court to forward them. The order was issued in response to an application filed by the NIA in Delhi, requesting the transfer of the records from Mumbai.
Rana will be produced before a court virtually and then taken into judicial custody after landing in India. He will be kept in a high-security ward in Tihar Jail.
