Congress Holds Emergency Meet After India Strikes On Terror Camps In Pakistan

After India launched targeted strikes on terror-linked sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) under ‘Operation Sindor’ in the early hours of Wednesday, the senior Congress leaders held an emergency informal meeting at the AICC office in Delhi to discuss the current security situation.

The meeting was attended by Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, general secretary KC Venugopal, and several other senior party leaders, according to a report by ANI.

After the meeting, Lok Sabha LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said, “We held discussions in the Working Committee. Full support to our Forces. Best wishes to them. Much love to them. Complete support from the Congress party and Congress Working Committee.”

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also held a high-level meeting with Chief Ministers, DGPs, and chief secretaries via video conferencing, in view of the strikes in Pakistan carried out by India.

In tomorrow’s all-party meeting also Congress will be represented by Rahul Gandhi and party chief Mallikarjun Kharge. Additionally, Congress has also demanded that Prime Minister Modi attend the meeting.

Under this operation, India successfully destroyed 21 terrorist camps in 9 regions in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied J&K on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, killing 14 family members of the Jaish-e-Mohammed founder Masood Azhar in a 25-minute operation, as per sources.

Those killed in Operation Sindoor included the son of Masood Azhar’s brother and India’s most wanted terrorist Rauf Asgar. Rauf Asgar was critically injured.

In the attack on Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur, Azhar’s elder sister and her husband, a nephew and his wife, another niece, and five children from his extended family were also killed, as per a statement attributed to him. The statement further mentioned that the attack also claimed the lives of one of Azhar’s close associates and his mother, along with two other close companions. 

Indian armed forces carried out missile strikes on terror targets, including the Jaish-e-Mohammad stronghold of Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s base in Muridke.

The military strikes were conducted under Operation Sindoor, two weeks after the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians.
