CPL 2025: Dwayne Bravo appointed as Trinbago Knight Riders’ head coach

Ahead of the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2025), legendary West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has been named the new head coach of the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR). Bravo is set to take over the duties from Phil Simmons, who is now the head coach of Bangladesh’s men’s national team.

In Bravo’s illustrious CPL career, Bravo donned the TKR jersey in nine of the eleven seasons, playing a total of 107 matches, hammering 1155 runs and taking 129 wickets at an economy of 8.74. As a player, he lifted five titles, including a memorable 2021 season as the captain of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

“It’s an honor to be given the opportunity to be Head Coach of TKR, a team that’s very close to my heart. I would like to personally thank Coach Phil Simmons for his time and commitment over the last few years, and now I look forward to this new challenge for me and my staff,” he said in a social media post.

Despite taking on coaching responsibilities, Bravo isn’t done playing yet. The 40-year-old will once again take the field alongside his long-time teammates Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard for the West Indies Champions in the second edition of the World Championship of Legends (WCL), starting July 18 in England. The tournament will be played across cities like Birmingham, Leeds, Leicester, and Northampton, with West Indies Champions opening their campaign on July 19 against South Africa Champions at Edgbaston. Last year, the Caribbean legends made it to the semi-finals before being knocked out by Pakistan.
