DC vs LSG IPL Stats and Records at Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Stadium, Visakhapatnam

Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will open their IPL 2025 campaigns at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam. DC will play two of their home matches in IPL 2025 at Vizag, like they have in the past.

Both teams failed to make the playoffs in IPL 2024 and went back to the drawing board in 2025. Among all their personnel changes, the biggest one is the fact that the respective captains of these two teams from last year have swapped teams. Rishabh Pant led DC until 2024 and became the most expensive player ever at an IPL auction when LSG signed him for a record INR 27 crore. KL Rahul was LSG’s captain till that time but has joined DC this year around.

While the Super Giants took the obvious route by making Pant their captain, DC gave the captaincy duties to star all-rounder Axar Patel, with Faf du Plessis as his deputy. Both teams have also dealt with players pulling out on the last minutes before the tournament. Harry Brook pulled out of the tournament at the last minutes and will be banned from the IPL till 2027. DC have not named a replacement for him. LSG have replaced the injured Mohsin Khan with Mumbai all-rounder Shardul Thakur.

The last IPL match played at Visakhapatnam saw a first innings total of 272. While nothing as egregious is expected, the batters are expected to have an easy time.

DC vs LSG, Key Player Battles

Rishabh Pant vs T Natarajan

Natarajan’s death overs exploits will be the key if DC are to stop their former skipper from rampaging around in batting friendly conditions. Historically in the IPL, Pant has managed just 26 runs from 24 balls against the left-hander without ever being dismissed at a strike rate of 108.33.

KL Rahul vs Avesh Khan

For the most part, Rahul has had a good time against Avesh in the IPL. In 37 balls, Rahul has scored 62 runs at a strike rate of 167.56 and has been dismissed just once at an average of 62. Avesh will have to carry most of LSG’s attack this season as their most experienced bowler.
