After the Pahalgam terror attack, senior police officials in all districts of Maharashtra have issued a high alert on Tuesday evening, directing all districts to enhance security measures, according to Maharashtra Police sources.

Security has been ramped up across the state, with authorities paying close attention to even the slightest developments.

A top Mumbai Police official confirmed that the force is currently operating in alert mode following the Pahalgam terror incident. Sources indicated that although Mumbai Police typically maintains a high level of vigilance, surveillance efforts have been significantly intensified in response to the recent attack.

Security arrangements at critical locations have been reassessed and strengthened at all sensitive sites.

In addition, the Delhi Police has also been directed to keep a close watch on tourist places and other significant places across the national capital, ANI quoted the Delhi Police sources as saying.

National Investigation Agency (NIA) To Probe Attack

During the attack, at least 26 tourists died and several were injured in Pahalgam in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. The incident took place in the scenic meadow of Baisaran, around six kilometres from Pahalgam, when terrorists opened fire on a crowd of tourists.

Meanwhile, sources indicated that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) will probe the deadly terror attack that took place on Tuesday around 3 PM, with terrorists firing over 50 rounds at civilians enjoying their day out in the picturesque meadow, also known as ‘mini Switzerland’.

Tourists were picnicking, riding ponies, and visiting eateries when the armed terrorists began firing indiscriminately, eyewitnesses said.
