The BJP is exploring the option of having two deputy chief ministers in the new government in a move to showcase the national capital as “mini” India, party leaders said.
The party has yet not revealed the name of the chief minister even after winning the national capital after 27 years. The party is likely to take a call after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s return from the United States. The first meeting of the BJP’s Legislature Party will likely be held on Sunday, reports added.
The meeting will be attended by the 48 newly-elected MLAs and presided over by two senior members from the BJP national leadership appointed to oversee the selection of the Chief Minister and the Cabinet members.

Reports added that the move of having two deputy chief ministers in Delhi will help the party to accommodate MLAs from different castes, communities and regional backgrounds.
Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are BJP-ruled states that have two deputy chief ministers.
In the last AAP government in Delhi, Manish Sisodia was the Deputy Chief Minister.
