Flight 6E 2142 was carrying five Trinamool Congress leaders, Derek O’Brien, Nadimul Haque, Sagarika Ghose, Manas Bhunia, and Mamata Thakur, on their way to Poonch when it encountered the turbulence.
Describing the experience, Ghose said passengers on the flight were screaming and panicking. She also praised the pilot for ensuring all 200 passengers landed safely in Srinagar. “It was a near-death experience. I thought my life was over. People were screaming, praying, and panicking,” Ghose said.

“Hats off to the pilot who brought us through that. When we landed, we saw the nose of the plane had blown up,” she added.
Indigo flight hits turbulence amid rain and hailstorm
A few videos of the turbulence surfaced on social media, showing terrified passengers praying as the plane shook and swayed mid-air.
IndiGo Airlines confirmed that bad weather was disrupting flight schedules in several cities. In a statement, the airline said, “IndiGo flight 6E 2142 operating from Delhi to Srinagar encountered sudden hailstorm en route. The flight and cabin crew followed established protocol and the aircraft landed safely in Srinagar.”
It added,”The airport team attended to the customers after arrival of aircraft prioritizing their wellbeing and comfort. The aircraft will be released post necessary inspection and maintenance.”
The TMC team, who will stay in Jammu and Kashmir until May 23, will visit Poonch, Rajouri, and Srinagar to express solidarity with people affected by cross-border attacks.
