A video went viral on Saturday wherein Rane could be seen losing his cool at a senior doctor in front of the hospital staff after allegedly receiving a complaint against him for not providing medical care to a patient. The health minister’s actions drew critcism and outrage as the video went viral on social media.

In the video, the Goa Health Minister can be seen losing his cool and ordering the senior doctor during his visit to the hospital for an inspection following the complaint. The doctor in the video turned out to be Dr Rudresh, Chief Medical Officer of Goa Medical College & Hospital.
Rane is seen rebuking the doctor in the video, saying, “You learn to control your tongue, you are a doctor.” He further added, “I generally don’t lose my cool, but you have to behave yourself. However loaded, you have to behave properly with patients.”
The minister then went on to ask the medical superintendent to issue a suspension order immediately, saying, “…Kick him out of here.”
“You are not authorised to speak when I am speaking. You get out of here. You are a doctor to serve the poor. I am suspending you… You just understand one thing, you are dealing with me. First, learn to shut up when I am talking to you. You can be anything. You want to file a case, go and file a case, but I am telling you, you are suspended,” Rane said.
After receiving backlash, Rane issued a statement on X, clarifying that his reaction was in response to a complaint he had received from a patient. He further assured that this would not be repeated.
“…I accept that my tone and words could have been more measured. I’m not above reflection or criticism. I take full responsibility for how I communicated, and I assure you, such an approach will not be repeated,” he said in a post on X on Saturday night.
The Goa Congress on Sunday demanded that “the most corrupt, arrogant, dangerously erratic, and unstable Health Minister intoxicated by power” be sacked.
The party expressed its support for Dr Rudresh and wrote on X, “This is not an isolated incident. It reflects a shameful pattern of abuse, intimidation, and unchecked arrogance. Vishwajit Rane must be held accountable for every doctor, nurse, and healthcare worker he has insulted, threatened, or demoralised.”
Congress national unit also posted on X highlighting the misbehaviour by the Goa health minister of the BJP-led government, calling him “an arrogant minister intoxicated with power.”
