Drones, CCTVs, No DJ: Security Boost Across Nation For Peaceful Ram Navami Celebrations

Security arrangements have been beefed up across several states in the country in view of the Ram Navami celebrations on Sunday, April 5. The security  has been heightened in states including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal to ensure the celebrations are carried out peacefully and to avoid any clashes.

The police have urged people not to believe in rumors and to maintain communal harmony. Special attention will be on social media platforms to keep a check on spreading of rumours that could disturb law and order. CCTVs and drones will be used for enhanced surveillance across states during the processions.

Security Heighetened In Maharashtra

In Maharashtra, police have been asked to be on high alert ahead of the Ram Navami festival, particularly in sensitive areas, news agency PTI reported citing a top official.

The decision comes as the city had witnessed clashes during religious processions on the occasion two years ago. Also, Nagpur was recently rocked by violence and communal tensions in March following a protest seeking removal of the tomb of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, located in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district.

“All unit commanders of city police and district superintendents of police have been asked to keep the force on alert to maintain the law and order situation,” the police official said. The situation was recently reviewed by Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla, he said, as reported by PTI.

Additional police force will particularly be deployed in places that have a history of communal tension. The Ram Navami processions will be monitored through drone cameras in cities.

“The alert issued to the police will remain in force till Hanuman Jayanti which falls on April 12,” the official said.

Security Arrangements In UP And Bihar

Elaborate arrangements have been made for Ram Navami in Uttar Pradesh, particularly in Ayodhya, which is expecting a turnout of nearly 10 lakh devotees.

In western districts such as Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Aligarh, and Moradabad, processions are under tight surveillance with drones and CCTV cameras.

Senior officials in Lucknow are overseeing the preparations via video conferencing.

The use of DJs has been completely banned in Bihar. In Rohtas district alone, authorities have seized more than 230 DJ setups.

Peace committee meetings are being held, and social media is under watch to prevent any disturbances amid elections and ongoing protests related to the Waqf Bill.
