Former Union Minister and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank’s daughter Arushi Nishank has accused two producers of cheating her of Rs 4 crore. Arushi, who is an actor and film producer, filed a case against producer couple Mansi and Varun Bagla of fraud and mental harassment.
She has alleged that the couple deceived her into investing in the film ‘Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan’ starring actors Vikrant Massey and Shanaya Kapoor.
The producers visited her home, introduced themselves as directors of Mini Films Private Limited, and offered her a key role in ‘Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan’. The couple allegedly convinced her to invest Rs 5 crore, promising her not only a key role in the movie but also a 20% share of the film’s profit.
“A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Himshrri Films and Mini Films on October 9, 2024, and took Rs 2 crore. They then took Rs 25 lakh on October 27, Rs 75 lakh on October 30, and Rs 1 crore on November 19, totalling Rs 4 crore. Despite promises to let me finalise my script and promote me on social media, neither was fulfilled,” she was quoted as saying in a report in Hindustan Times.
Arushi has alleged that the producers neither promoted her nor finalised a script and later removed her from the film. When she demanded a refund, they informed her that they had now replaced her with another actress.
The actress accused the couple of threatening her with defamation, false legal cases, and death threats. Arushi also claimed that the producers body-shamed her and mocked her Garhwali background and used derogatory language against her.
Kotwali station house officer Chandrabhan Singh said a first information report has been registered on Arushi’s complaint and the matter is being investigated.
