Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah, met tourists in Pahalgam on Saturday and asserted that Kashmir was and will always be a part of India. Speaking to reporters days after the attack in Pahalgam, Abdullah said that the biggest message is that the tourists are “not scared.”
“The people who wanted to spread fear have lost. They (terrorists) have lost. It has been proven today that we are not going to get scared. Kashmir was and will always be a part of India. People want terrorism to finish. It has been 35 years since we have seen terrorism; we want progress. We want to move forward. We will become a superpower one day,” Abdullah said as quoted by news agency ANI.
Abdullah also said that India is the nation of Gandhi, and it has threatened Pakistan to stop the water, but ‘we will not kill them,’ he added.
“When the Indus Waters Treaty was signed, the people of J&K were not taken into confidence. Due to its treaty, J&K has suffered the biggest loss. I appeal to the government of India to work on a scheme to bring that water to the people of Jammu…,” he further said.
Speaking about the woman who lost her husband in Pahalgam six days after the marriage, Abdullah said even he cried and did not eat.
Such demons are still there who murder humanity. They are not human. They call themselves Muslims, but I think they are not Muslims… We are all with those families who have suffered because of terrorism. I want to assure them that these sacrifices will not go in vain, all will be avenged… ‘ab ghada bhar gaya hai’….
