A fire broke out at a highrise in Mumbai’s Byculla East area in Maharashtra on Friday morning. Firefighting operations are underway.

There was no report of injuries or casualty in the blaze that erupted in a residential property in one of the twin buildings of Salette No. 27, near New Grade Insta Mill on Babasaheb Ambedkar Road.

Thick plumes of black smoke emanating from the building were visible from afar.

The fire brigade officials told ABP News that the fire broke out at around 10:45 AM on the 42nd floor of the 57-storey highrise. The people living in the building evacuated it soon after the fire erupted.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. The flames are confined within the building, with the Mumbai Fire Branch declaring it as Level-I.

“Teams from the BEST, police, 108 ambulance services, and other agencies were mobilised immediately,” an official from fire brigade told PTI.
