IndiGo’s parent company InterGlobe Aviation on Thursday (July 3) announced the appointment of Amitabh Kant as non-executive director.

Kant, a former CEO of NITI Aayog and India’s G20 Sherpa, is a seasoned civil servant with extensive experience in public administration and global policymaking. He stepped down from his role as G20 Sherpa last month.

Mehta further added that Kant’s broad experience will strengthen IndiGo’s efforts to achieve its goal of becoming a global airline by 2030.

During his tenure at NITI Aayog, Kant held several key positions, including serving as Director on the Board of the National Highways Authority of India and as a Member of the National Statistical Commission.

On his appointment, Kant said stated, “I am delighted to join the Board of InterGlobe Aviation Ltd (IndiGo). With its scale, efficiency, and international vision, IndiGo is well positioned to open new global markets for India and help transform our airports into hubs for connectivity, commerce, and investment.”
