Shah Rukh Khan and his family have shifted base to Mumbai’s upscale Pali Hill neighbourhood, leaving behind their landmark sea-facing home, Mannat, which is currently under a long-term renovation. The Khans—Shah Rukh, Gauri, and their children Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam—have moved into a plush temporary residence while their iconic Bandstand bungalow gets a significant makeover.
According to reports, the family relocated in April this year and is expected to stay at the Pali Hill property for over two years while Mannat undergoes extensive structural upgrades.
Gauri Khan rents apartment for her staff
In a recent development, it’s been revealed that Gauri Khan has secured an additional apartment close to their current accommodation—just 100 metres away. This new flat, located in the Puja Casa complex in Pankaj Society, has reportedly been rented out exclusively for her staff. As per data accessed by Zapkey, the 725 sq ft unit has been leased from a certain Sanjay Kishor Ramani for ₹1.35 lakh per month, with a three-year agreement. The lease includes a ₹4.05 lakh security deposit and a clause for a 5% annual rent hike.
Shah Rukh Khan and family’s new abode
Earlier reports suggested that Shah Rukh had leased two lavish duplex apartments in the same Puja Casa building for a staggering ₹2.9 crore per year, with a monthly rental of around ₹24 lakh. These units span four floors and collectively cover about 10,500 sq ft—less than half the area of Mannat, which is approximately 27,000 sq ft in size. Notably, Puja Casa is owned by actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani, his sister Deepshikha Deshmukh, and their father, filmmaker Vashu Bhagnani.
Mannat’s renovation
Mannat, a Grade 2-B heritage property, has long been one of the most recognised celebrity homes in the country. However, due to its heritage status, modifications to the original structure were limited. Khan had earlier added a six-storey annexe behind the main house to accommodate his family’s growing space requirements, also naming it Mannat. The current renovation is reportedly aimed at expanding the existing space by adding two more floors, increasing the built-up area by 616.02 square metres.
Heritage regulations surrounding Grade 2 structures allow only limited redevelopment, given their architectural and cultural value. The current modifications are being carried out in compliance with these strict guidelines, ensuring the essence of the historic building is preserved.
