Govt Cancels Leaves Of Paramilitary Jawans As India-Pak Situation Escalates: Sources

The Centre has cancelled leaves of paramilitary personnel as tensions with Pakistan escalated, as per sources. The action follows India’s early morning airstrikes at nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

As per reports, 14 family members of JeM terrorist Masood Azhar were killed in the airstrikes.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the Union Cabinet and the Cabinet Committee of Security (CCS) to take stock of the evolving situation.

The meeting is also likely to pass a resolution on the overnight operation carried out by the defence forces, the sources said. Indian armed forces early Wednesday carried out missile strikes in terror targets, including the Jaish-e-Mohammad stronghold of Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s base in Muridke.

PM Modi had earlier given full operational freedom to the armed forces to decide on the targets, manner and timing of the action against terror in the wake of the Pahalgam attack in which 26 tourists were killed.

Before the meeting, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and NSA Ajit Doval briefed the prime minister on the situation.
