A five-year-old in Madhya Pradesh is battling for her life after being subjected to a horiffic case of sexual assault. According to the police, a 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with the matter and is being tried as juvenile.
The child, a resident of Shivpuri, is being treated at a hospital in Gwalior where doctors said she needed 28 stitches in her private parts and an operation for colostomy.
The incident took place five days ago where the accused, apparently drunk, slammed the girl’s head against a wall several times and then brutalised her, reported NDTV. The child bore injuries on her body and private parts besides multiple cuts, scratches and bite marks.
The child had gone missing on February 23 and was found almost two hours later on the terrace of house in the neighbourhood, covered in blood and unconscious.
She was taken to hospital where doctors carried out a two-hour operation to stabilise her, however her condition still remains critical. While she has regained consciousness, she has not spoken since the assault, as per the report.
The victim’s family has called for death sentence of the accused. “He should be shout openly on the road,” her mother said.
Agitated locals, backed by political parties, staged protests and demonstrations in the area.
The horiffic incident has brought political parties on same page as leaders of the Congress and the BJP have asked for a fast-track court and death penalty for the accused.
The political leaders have also submitted a memorandum to the district adminisration.
Last month, a man was arrested for allegedly raping a 5-year-old girl living in his neigbourhoos in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district.
The minor had went to her school and complained to her teacher about pain in her private part. The teacher then talked to the child’s parents and the matter came to light, the police said.
Upon receiving the information about the matter, the police spoke with the minor and registered a case under relevant sections against the accused.
