Several members of a Hindu outfit on Friday forcibly shut down two well-known eateries—KFC and Nazeer Foods—citing the sale of meat during the sacred month of Sawan. The incident took place in Ghaziabad’s Vasundhara on July 17, following which police have registered a case against the protestors.
Despite the absence of any official restriction on the sale of non-vegetarian food items in the area during Sawan or the ongoing Kanwar Yatra, the protestors stormed into the stores asking the staff to shut them down.
Videos circulating on social media show the group chanting religious such as “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Jai Shri Ram,” while confronting restaurant employees, asking them to down the shutters.
The outfit members can be heard saying that it is wrong to sell non-vegeterian food during the sacred month of Sawan and that the outlets will have to shut down the stores.
