IPL 2025: Delhi Capitals vs Kolkata Knight Riders, Match 48 – Stats Preview of Player records and approaching Milestones

Delhi Capitals (DC) started IPL 2025 with four wins in a row, but now their solid foundation has been shaken as they have lost three of their last five matches. Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on the other hand have been shaky throughout the tournament and potentially risk elimination. 

KKR’s last game, against PBKS in Kolkata, was turned quite literally into a damp squib. Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh smashed the KKR bowlers all over the place in a commanding partnership. The other PBKS batters didn’t provide much support and they finished with an arguably underwhelming 201 after being unable to tee off at the death. The rain arrived just one over into KKR’s chase and made sure that the teams split points. 

DC lost to RCB in Delhi in their last game. Abishek Porel gave DC a great start, but Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma brought RCB back. Throughout the middle overs, the run flow was in check as DC couldn’t get going. Tristan Stubbs teed off at the death, but Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s wickets at the death kept the total from ballooning. 

RCB’s start was rocky as Axar Patel got both Jacob Bethell and Devdutt Padikkal in the same over, and eight balls later Rajat Patidar was back in the hut. At 26/3, RCB were in a serious crisis but Virat Kohli and Pandya were up to the task. The start of their long partnership was scratchy, but Pandya found the fence regularly as Kohli was expertly maneuvering the equation. Neither paid much heed to the climbing required rate and put RCB in an advantageous position which Tim David finished off. 

One more interesting tidbit is that DC and KKR had played each other on 29 April 2024 as well. Phil Salt did pound DC’s bowlers into the ground in that game, but the most interesting thing to happen in that game was the fact that Kuldeep Yadav top scored for DC with the bat. DC would probably hope that a repeat performance is not on the cards.
