Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are all set to face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a crucial Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 fixture at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday, May 7. Ahead of the high-voltage clash, KKR head coach Chandrakant Pandit sounded confident about his team being able to shut out the noise from MS Dhoni’s Kolkata-based fans, who are expected to come in numbers to watch the stalwart, who could be making his last appearance at the iconic venue.
While CSK have already been eliminated and are playing for pride, KKR are in contention to make it to the playoffs. They have 11 points from as many matches, and wins in their three remaining games could take them to the second phase of the 10-team competition.
“I think during these kinds of games, every player and every team is always focused on their own game. I mean, that’s sometimes like, if a batter is batting and there is so much noise around, and if you ask that batter, probably he will say that ‘I didn’t hear anything about it,” said Pandit on the eve of their match against CSK.
“It was the same case with me when people used to tell me so much noise around and how you can focus. But sometimes we just ignore that noise automatically. So, obviously when you are focused on the game, it does not matter so much if you ask me,” he added.
Not really feeling pressure: Chandrakant Pandit
While KKR can’t afford to lose points at this stage of the tournament, Pandit said that his team is not under any sort of pressure. He hoped that the players would be able to do justice to their potential in the three matches to come.
“Not really (feeling the pressure). I don’t want to go back. We always believe that we have the best batting lineup, it unfortunately didn’t click. Hope it will do justice in the next three games,” said Pandit.

“We know the ability of every individual player. We believe in them. To maintain that, you have to give them a lot of confidence, make sure they believe in themselves,” he added.
