IPL 2025: One minute of silence to be observed, no cheerleaders for SRH vs MI clash after Pahalgam terrorist attacks

The entire country of India went into a state of shock after the news of terrorist attacks in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pahalgam region, where several tourists were shot dead by a group of militants on Tuesday, April 22, came to the fore. The horrific incident has left the state in extreme saddening, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken the decision to observe one minute of silence for the victims of the attacks during IPL 2025 match on April 23.

As a part of the observation, the match officials including the players and the umpires will be seen wearing black armbands ahead of the Match 41 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Wednesday. The board has also taken the decision to not showcase any display of fireworks, DJs, or cheerleaders for this game.

“Players and umpires to wear black armbands in today’s match. There will be one minute’s silence before the start of the match, and there will be no cheerleaders today, also no fireworks,” a BCCI source was quoted as saying by The Tribune India.

The match will go underway in Hyderabad at 7:30 PM (Indian Standard Time) and right before the start of the match, the players and fans will gather at the venue to observe a minute of silence and pay condolences to the 28 innocents who lost their lives to this inhumane act in the northern part of the country.

Several top cricketers have also voiced their opinion after coming to know about the incident. Virat Kohli, one of the most popular cricketers, has also shared his grief to the innocent lives lost in Pahalgam. Kohli also demanded justice for the cruel attack by the terrorist organization.

“Deeply saddened by the heinous attack in Pahalgam on innocent people. Heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. Praying for peace and strength to families of all those who lost their lives and justice to be served for this cruel act,” Kohli wrote in his Instagram story on Wednesday morning.
