
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have appointed Ottis Gibson as their Assistant Coach ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The defending champions confirmed Gibson’s appointment for the position on Saturday, March 08. He will now be a forming part of the coaching staff headed by seasoned campaigner Chandrakant Pandit.
Gibson boasts a solid experience in various coaching responsibilities across his career. He has also worked with Yorkshire county club in the past for a short duration, while his international assignments have been much stronger. He was the head coach when the West Indies lifted their maiden T20 World Cup title in 2012. His four-year stint saw the Windies become among the most fierce sides in the shortest format.
Gibson, 55, also served as bowling coach for England men’s cricket team twice. His other roles include being the South Africa head coach between 2017 and 2019, while also having a short stay with the Bangladesh men’s team, as pace bowling coach which started January 2020. Thus, the upcoming stint with KKR will surely add to his CV, and he would be wanting to contribute as much to the team’s cause in defending the title.
