The team crashed out of the tournament after losing to New Zealand and arch-rivals India, and disappointed all the fans and experts who were backing them to perform, especially since they are the hosts of the event.

There were a number of experts who shared their views on the dynamics of the Pakistan team, and Wasim Akram has joined the bandwagon. The 58-year-old blasted the bowling attack and also shared his opinion on the diet of the players, expressing his surprise on the fact that a tray full of bananas was brought for the players during the drinks break in the match against India.

“I think it was the first or second drinks break, and there was a plate full of bananas for the players. Itne kele toh bandar bhi nahi khaate (Even monkeys don’t eat so many bananas). And it’s their food. Had it been our captain Imran Khan, he would have given me a beating over it,” Akram said on a post-match show.

During the show, the former Pakistan skipper also talked about the style of cricket Pakistan has playing in recent times, claiming it to be archaic. He also said that young and fearless cricketers should make their way into the team, calling for “drastic steps” to be taken.

“Drastic steps needed. We are playing archaic cricket in white-ball for ages, This need to change. Bring fearless cricketers, young blood into the team. If you have to make five-six changes. Please make it. You keep losing for next six months. Its fine but start building team for World T20 2026 from now onwards,” he added.
