Karnataka Ex-DGP Murder: Wife Killed Cop While He Was Having Lunch, Claims She Was Poisoned

Former Karnataka DGP Om Prakash was stabbed while having lunch, according to sources. He was reportedly eating a meal that included two types of fish when his wife, Pallavi, allegedly initiated an argument and suddenly attacked him with a knife.

India Today sources indicated that a lunch plate was found near his body and from the crime scene two knives and a broken bottle believed to be used in the murder were receoverd from the crime scene. Police suspected that both Pallavi and her daughter, Kriti, may have played a role in the killing.

After the attack, the mother and daughter are believed to have wrapped Om Prakash’s body in a bedsheet and locked themselves in a room. Pallavi later contacted the police to report the incident, surrendered, and allegedly confessed to the crime.

When officers arrived, Kriti initially refused to come out and had locked herself inside. Police eventually had to force open the door to detain her. The authorities also seized the mobile phones of the deceased and both suspects, and have recorded statements from three individuals as part of their investigation.

As per the sources, during the initial interrogation, Pallavi claimed that she killed Om Prakash in response to self-defence. She allegedly claimed that her husband would frequently walk around the house carrying a gun, which he supposedly kept with him at all times. She further stated that even during minor disagreements, he would threaten her by brandishing the weapon, sources said.

Investigative sources said Pallavi told police that during an argument on Sunday, Om Prakash was the first to become aggressive and once again threatened her with the gun. In response, she said she stabbed him with a knife. This statement was reportedly given in the presence of the Madiwala Assistant Commissioner of Police during questioning.

However, sources disclosed that Om Prakash reportedly disclosed to senior police officials several times stating he was unable to bear the torture of his wife.

Initial forensic findings revealed that Om Prakash was stabbed in the chest, stomach, and arm, and had about 8-10 stab wounds. Around 4-5 wounds were concentrated in the abdominal part of the body, which allegedly caused severe bleeding.

The floor of the dining hall was covered with blood, which hinted a signs of a struggle. As per the sources, the deceased struggled for almost 15-20 minutes before dying.

During this period, his wife is said to have stood by as her husband endured the assault. After his death, Pallavi allegedly contacted a senior IPS officer to inform them about the murder. She then called the police to report the incident.

She also confessed to the murder in a video call to one of her neighbours, reportedly telling that, “I have killed the monster”, sources told NDTV Monday afternoon.

WhatsApp Messages Disclose Pallavi Has Been Living Under Surveillance, Threats

Meanwhile, WhatsApp messages allegedly sent by Pallavi revealed that she claimed to be under constant watch and facing continuous threats. “I am a hostage. Always under surveillance by Omprakash’s agents wherever I go,” She reportedly wrote in one of the messages.

The messages accessed suggest that Pallavi felt trapped and harassed months before she allegedly killed the former Director General of Police. In multiple messages, she accused the long-standing abuse, poisoning attempts, and surveillance.

“I have been asking him to live separately for years but to no avail. Wherever I go on my own, the same food and water poisoning starts,” she wrote.

She further alleged that even food delivered through platforms like Swiggy and Zomato was tampered with, and that domestic workers had been bribed to facilitate the poisoning. “Poisoning is just a term for you to read. It is very, very painful,” she added, requesting a proper investigation. “My daughter is suffering badly now. I can’t sit quietly.”

She accused the prolonged abuse had affecting her daughter’s health. “Years of poisoning would have harmed kidneys also. Please get those reports and file (them). I have been doing home detox with things like ghee and nimbu (lemon),” she added, suggesting that cooks at their home be interrogated to reveal the truth.

Recounting a disturbing encounter, she mentioned in one of the messages, “Yesterday while walking on the road, one person who had left the van door open and was moving the van with open door released some powder from the van. I didn’t realise it until much later when my whole upper body started burning.”

“It seems too bizarre to be true but it is. His empire is huge. He is actually a PFI member.” She pleaded, “What should I do? My daughter is suffering. It started recently, when she started raising her voice, “her alarming allegations continued.

Another message, she highlights, “The victim can be injected by very very painful injections. Without an iota of doubt. I still don’t know how this works out but it does. Probably piston effort. I am sure the NIA has no knowledge of this extremely sophisticated physical weapon.”

She also named a man called Mastaan, accusing him of repeatedly using a sharp, prickling weapon to harm her over an extended period.

In a separate message, Pallavi appealed to national security authorities for intervention. “At least bring it to the notice of Ajit Doval. From where is he getting these weapons and money? It is more dangerous than the Ranya Rao case,” she wrote, referencing a well-known smuggling case linked to a Kannada actor.

“Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely more if it is additionally accompanied by money power. Money makes everything so easy,” Pallavi added.

As per NDTV, in one of her messages to a group of IPS officers, she urgently called for action against her husband, a 1981-batch IPS officer, and insisted that Om Prakash’s revolver should be confiscated without delay. She urged to preserve her messages before they could be hacked or erased, she pleaded, “Please save this message.”

According to India Today, indicating the final months in service of her husband, Pallavi claimed, “During my husband’s last few months of DGP, a police officer would commit suicide almost every ten to fifteen days. Every case is declared as a mental instability case.”

She also sought the current DGP for temporary accommodation for herself. “If possible, let the DGP give me accommodation in Ashok Nagar Quarters temporarily. There things might be comparatively safer. I don’t know how much that will work out. But at the moment, that seems to be the best bet.”

“Our constables are very easily bribed. But I can’t think of anything else,” she said in one of her messages.

These WhatsApp messages have become a crucial part of the ongoing investigation into Om Prakash’s death. Authorities are examining the contents to reconstruct the sequence of events and uncover any potential motive behind the alleged murder.
