
In the wake of the tragic stampede near M Chinnaswamy Stadium that claimed 11 lives during the RCB IPL victory celebrations, the High Court of Karnataka has taken suo motu cognisance of the incident. The court is scheduled to hear the matter today (Thursday, March 5) at 2:30 PM.

On Tuesday, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar met the injured who were receiving treatment at Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital and Vydehi Super Speciality Hospital in Bengaluru.
“11 are dead and 33 injured due to stampede near Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru…More than 2-3 lakh people came, and no one expected this much crowd,” Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah said, as per a report on PTI.
Later, the CM announced Rs 10 lakh ex gratia to the kin of the deceased. He also ordered a magistrate inquiry into the matter and assured to take action if anyone was found wrong. The CM said that there were two programme, one was a victory celebration at the stadium organised by the cricket association and a government event at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru.
