
The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association on Thursday claimed that they have been receiving distress calls from various Kashmiri students in Dehradun. Following similar allegations from various parts of the country, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reacted and assured he was in touch with the governments of the states where Kashmiris were allegedly being harassed following the Pahalgam terror attack.
The union said the students are feeling “threatened and insecured” after the Hindu Rakhsha Dal allegedly released a video, “warning Kashmiri Muslim students to vacate Dehradun by 10 AM today”.

The J&K Students association further said that it requested Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah to immediately take this issue with Uttarakhand counterpart to ensure safety and security of students.
Later, it provided an update that it was in constant touch with the Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah and that the government was fully cooperating with them.
“We are in constant touch with @CM_JnK’s office through @nasirsogami facilitating the details of distressed students. J&K govt is fully cooperating with us in best possible way. We request Kashmiri students to not to panic, and send us your queries on our helpline numbers,” the union stated in a post on X.
Terrorists opened fire in the Baisaran meadow near the tourist hub of Pahalgam in south Kashmir on Tuesday afternoon, killing 26 people, mostly tourists. Five terrorists, including three Pakistan nationals have been identified by the security agencies.
“The J&K government is in touch with the governments of the states where these reports are originating from. I’m also in touch with my counterpart Chief Ministers in these states & have requested they take extra care,” Abdullah replied to a post on X by ruling National Conference spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar seeking his intervention in the matter of Kashmiris being allegedly harassed.
Imran Nabi Dar had requested Abdullah to “immediately intervene” and speak to his counterparts across the country, stating that numerous videos showing Kashmiri students nationwide terrified for their safety are being widely shared on social media.
Mehbooba Mufti Speaks To Amit Shah
PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and expressed her deepest condolences to the families of the Pahalgam terror attack victims. Mufti also urged Shah to ensure the safety of Kashmiri students after reports of them being attacked across the country surfaced following the Pahalgam attack.
“Spoke with Home Minister Amit Shah ji to extend my deepest condolences & also express solidarity with bereaved families of the Pahalgam terror attack,” Mufti wrote on X.
“We stand with the nation in this hour of mourning. Also requested him to intervene in the wake of certain elements openly threatening Kashmiri students & traders across various states. Urged him to intervene without delay to ensure their safety & protection wherever such incidents are being reported,” she added.
